The phrase “self-sufficient” doesn’t quite do justice to Shayla Lamb’s personality. “You can maybe count on people to bring a potato salad to a barbeque,” she laughs, “but that’s about it.”

That philosophy goes a long way toward explaining Shayla’s determination – she got her first job at 14 – and her ambition. Which, in turn, explains how she found herself in a creative welding program at Aims Community College.
